The Center for Online Addiction is the only organization dedicated specifically to helping those who suffer from out of control online behavior. Founded in 1995 by Dr. Kimberly Young, the center began as a clearing house of information for people concerned with Internet addiction problems. Today, we serve as the first recovery center to provide education, training, and resources for understanding and treating Internet addiction. We deal with problems such as cybersex addiction, cyberaffairs, online gaming addiction, and childhood Internet addiction. We provide a range of professional services designed to promote health and well-being as we focus on strategies to maximize use of technology while retaining a balance of it in one’s life.
Our goals are to promote public and professional access to information and resources about the disorders of Internet addiction and compulsivity, support research in the field, and promote appropriate training and education conducive to prevention, intervention, and treatment of Internet addiction.
The Center for Online Addiction is internationally recognized as a leader in the healthcare field and has been featured in hundreds of media outlets including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Newsweek, US News & World Report, Time, CNN, CNBC, Good Morning America, Inside Edition, and ABC World News Tonight.
