Certification in Internet Addiction Recovery
For therapists, psychologists, addiction counselors, and social workers looking to become certified in Internet addiction recovery, we provide home study online learning courses. Composed of three courses worth 4-continuing education credits each (for a total of 12 credits), the certificate is composed of:

Course 1: Internet Addiction: Symptoms, Risk Factors and Treatment
- This course reviews diagnostic factors, psychosocial risk factors of the disorder, treatment using cognitive-behavioral therapy, and evidenced-based treatment outcomes with Internet addicts. (4-CEU credits)

Course 2: Cybersex Addiction and Internet Infidelity
- Cybersex addiction and Internet infidelity are two of the most common forms of addictive Internet use. This course shows therapists specialized techniques in treating these new clinical problems and diagnostic features, risk factors, and advanced techniques in treatment. This course also shows therapists' specialized counseling techniques for couples after an online affair. (4-CEU credits)

Course 3: Internet and Adolescents
- Children are the fastest growing population on the web. They comprise the majority of users and are more Internet-savvy than their parents. This course reviews the effects of Internet pornography, pedophiles, violent games, and Internet addiction among children. In particular, this course examines new trends in teen online gambling and addiction to online role-playing games. Recent studies suggest these activities are addictive as drugs and alcohol. This course also looks at the phenomenon of social networking sites such as MySpace, how Internet predators prey on unsuspecting children, and steps in child online safety. (4-CEU credits)

Taught by Dr. Kimberly Young, an internationally known expert in the field, these courses provide key concepts and issues related to the growing problem of Internet addiction. Courses can be taken individually or together to earn the certificate in Internet Addiction Recovery. If you earn the certificate, you will receive a free standard listing in our referral directory.
